Common Measurements and Their Scale Conversions

Most rulers do not measure twelfths of an inch, therefore measurements have been rounded to the closest standard measurement.   For exact conversions, I recommend you obtain a ruler that divides an inch into 12 parts.

Ceiling Heights: 8-12’ depending on time period and style     One inch scale = 8-12”   Half inch scale = 4-6”  Quarter inch scale = 2-3”

Door Height: 6’8” One inch scale = 6 11/16”   Half inch scale = 3 5/16” Quarter inch scale = 1 21/32”

Door Width: 30”-36” One inch scale = 2 1/2″-3″

Chair Seat Height: 18” One inch scale = 1 ½” Half inch scale = 3/4″  Quarter inch scale = 3/8″

Table Height: 30”   One inch scale = 2 1/2” Half inch scale = 1 1/4″ Quarter inch scale = 5/8″

Counter Height: 36”   One inch scale = 3” Half inch scale = 1 1/2″ Quarter inch scale = 3/4″
